About Us

COMPANY HISTORY

The Language Lab was founded in 1972 in New York City. Its purpose was to provide language training and translation services to government agencies and private businesses. Under the umbrella of Translingua Associates, Inc., The Language Lab has expanded in size and reach over the past 10 years. In 2000 the company’s founders and owners retired and handed it over to its young, dynamic project management team. In 2005 The Language Lab broadened its client base through the acquisition of Translation Company of America (TCA).  In 2006, The Language Lab became the official translation partner of the French Institute Alliance Francaise (fiaf) in New York. Finally, in 2008, the company extended its geographical reach by joining forces with Language Matters in Boulder, Colorado. This growth has allowed The Language Lab to modernize its tools and streamline its processes and, as a result, offer a more extensive range of foreign language services in the U.S and abroad.

WHY CHOOSE THE LANGUAGE LAB

The Language Lab is an owner-managed company, which allows us to be flexible, efficient and provide our clients with customized, top-quality service.

Every foreign language project, regardless of its size, is under the direction of a Project Manager who coordinates all personnel involved in each aspect of the project and acts as liaison between client and staff.

Professional linguists with years of experience and formal training in the translation field, work together with the Project Manager. Throughout each phase of the process, word choices, usage, consistency of style, and cultural appropriateness are discussed and reviewed so that the client’s concepts are communicated clearly.

The Language Lab’s team approach ensures quality and accuracy in all projects, and facilitates our ability to offer:

-  Same-day and 24-hour turnaround service
-  Guaranteed deadlines

-  Volume discounts

-  Certified accuracy and confidentiality
